Field Service Technician

Our growing and locally owned information technology company is looking for intelligent, dedicated, and detail oriented field installation technicians to help support both residential and commercial video, telephony, data, and home security/home automation customers in the Akron/Canton area as well as areas throughout Northeast Ohio immediately.

Candidates must genuinely enjoy helping people, problem solving, learning new things, work well with their heads as well as their hands, communicate well, be adaptive to new environments, and take pride in their work.

Additional requirements are a valid driver's license and the ability to pass a drug screening and background check. (No criminal misdemeanors within 5 years and no felonies within 7 years) (A $50 deposit reimbursable after the probationary period of 90 days is required up front in order to process the background check and drug screening)

Previous working experience with Cable/Internet/Telephony installation and support, as well as home theater, security systems, knowledge of basic computer and internet connected device troubleshooting a plus but not required. We will provide paid training for qualified candidates.

As we are in a service industry, candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule including some some evenings and at least one weekend day. Candidates must also be prepared to work in all weather conditions, have the ability to carry an up to 80 lb fiberglass ladder, and climb to heights up to 32ft.

Pay is W-2 hourly paid bi-weekly based on billable piece work performed usually averaging $1000 - $1600 every two weeks, with additional incentives when we meet certain team performance metrics. Some technicians make more and some make less simply based on their productivity. There is no selling involved in the work we do. The more technicians we have available in the field the more work assigned from our partners and the more work you complete the more you will make. In this industry it is key to be smart and detail oriented as well as efficient when doing your work, in order to complete as much work in the time allotted as possible allowing you to maximize your income.

One week of paid vacation time is earned after one year of service with the company. Two weeks of paid vacation time after 3 years with the company.

A work van and fuel card are provided (Though strictly monitored via GPS and online fueling reports).

Applicable specialized tools such as a 28 ft ladder, testing equipment, and safety equipment will be given to technician as an advance and deposit payroll deducted over time but all other basic tools (Including reliable 18v cordless hammer drill with spare battery) are the responsibility of the technician to provide before starting . All tools are then your property and as such are tax deductible by you as an non-reimbursed work expense.

Since working with technology is core to our business all technicians must also carry a laptop, be able to send/receive e-mail/attachments, and understand/be able to do basic work with Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel which are basic to the reporting we use for billing, quality assurance, and other performance tracking. If you don't have a laptop we can provide one at cost ($125 to $150). Again we are a technology and communications company so this is key.

An Android smartphone or tablet with mobile data is also required to receive, complete, and bill for work. Verizon smartphones with 2 GB data only plans can be provided at cost (Approximately $30 per month) if technicians do not have their own Android device. A separate mobile phone would then still be encouraged for occasional questions and troubleshooting while on-site.

Dispatch/Customer Service/Admin Assistant

Our growing locally owned information technology company is looking a few intelligent, dedicated, and detail oriented dispatch/customer service/technical support/admin assistants to help support our video, telephony, data, home automation field technicians and customers on a full and part time basis.

Duties will include...

Pre/post calling customers who recently received service from our field technicians to verify service was rendered properly as well as to answer any follow up questions.  

Answer incoming calls from customers with questions about our services and assist with basic troubleshooting of video, data, telephony, and home security services we have installed or serviced recently.

Log, update, and maintain records of these calls and issues in a database for review and collaboration with other office staff.

Assist office staff with tracking of inventory and company assets.

Assist field technicians over the phone to make sure work orders are accurate and services are verified working.

Previous working or personal experience with cable/satellite, data (internet), telephony, and home security installation or support as well as a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, computers in general and internet connected device troubleshooting a plus but not required. We will provide paid training for qualified candidates. 

Additional opportunities to learn and assist with computer repair in the office available for those candidates that show promise.

As we are in a service industry candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule based on customer demand.  We are open and have technicians in the field 7 days a week from roughly 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM based on customer demand and need coverage to support them with morning, afternoon, and evening shifts.

Pay is W-2 hourly.  Initial training is paid at minimum wage and then hourly rates are between $9 and $11 per hour depending on the skills and reliability of the candidate.  Additional incentives/bonuses offered occasionally if the company as a whole meets certain performance metrics.  One week of paid vacation time is earned after one year of service with the company and two weeks of paid vacation earned after three years with the company.
